Nominum Inc., a provider of infrastructure software for management of IP addresses, has joined the Juniper Networks Inc. J-Partner OSS & Network Management Alliance.

An initial development will be a network infrastructure with highly available DHCP services for broadband internet applications and mobile connectivity.

According to Nominum, the combination of the Juniper Networks E-series edge routing platform and the Nominum Foundation Dynamic Configuration Server (DCS) will meet carrier-grade demands for network availability and performance, and enable service providers to support large numbers of subscribers with differentiated services.

Among the characteristics expected of a joint Juniper Networks and Nominum system are:

--High availability: Nominum's DCS failover capabilities align with the Juniper Networks E-series reliability and redundancy to support always-on networks and connectivity. This enables resilient networks and network services with redundancy and failover capabilities.

--Increased service availability: Nominum DCS can be configured without needing to interrupt or restart the server. Nominum DCS increases the uptime of the DHCP infrastructure and helps service providers to achieve 99.999 percent uptime, the company says.

--Flexibility: The Nominum DCS allows almost limitless extensibility of its internal business logic for IP address lease allocation. By integrating DHCP with provisioning, billing, and security systems, providers can respond to changing market conditions and offer new competitive service packages.
