MetaSwitch, a vendor of VoIP infrastructure products, has announced a number of new applications for its IP Multimedia Subsystem (IMS) application server, the UC9000 Unified Communications System. These include autoattendant, a privacy application and an application to extend desktop communication functions to any end point.
The first extension, the UC9000 Autoattendant offers automated receptionist functions including a dial-by-name directory, customizable business hours, holidays, menus and announcements, as well as graphical activity reports. It is fully integrated with UC9000 Web Self-Care and can be configured using a Web interface, giving office administrators control over business-group settings.
The UC9000 Privacy Manager provides a call-screening service. Using the Privacy Manager, anonymous callers are prompted to provide a name. The Privacy Manager subscriber is then offered the opportunity to accept or reject the call.
The two new applications are built on SIP within the IMS architectural framework, and are delivered installed on servers provided by MetaSwitch.
MetaSwitch, a leading vendor of next generation carrier switching solutions, has once again raised the bar for the softswitch industry with the introduction of the MetaSwitch Desktop Assistant, a new productivity-enhancing application that offers advanced features previously only seen on high-end IP PBXs. MetaSwitch is the first vendor to integrate this rich functionality into a Class 4/5 Softswitch product line, as part of its UC9000 Unified Communications platform for enhanced services.
Using the MetaSwitch SIP IP Multimedia Subsystem (IMS) Application Server interface, the Desktop Assistant enables enhanced communications capabilities for any end point, whether an IP phone or traditional analog line.
Features of the Desktop Assistant include
–The ability to see the contact details of a caller when their phone rings, which the company calls Outlook-enhanced Caller ID, and have the option to ignore the call or send to voice mail
–Management of contacts and click to call
–Presence information about colleagues and friends, and the option to send an instant message instead of placing a phone call
–Alerts for new voice mail messages using a small system tray icon
–Logs of recently dialed, received and missed calls
–Control of phone feature settings, such as turning on "do not disturb," from the main application window.
