Nominum has demonstrated that its ENUM solution running on seven IBM eServer BladeCenter systems in a single chassis can load more than 200 million NAPTR records and respond to more than 250,000 queries per second with a response time of 1 millisecond per query. All this means that, with these pieces in place, VoIP is ready to scale, says Albert Gouyet, vice president of marketing at Nominum.

“It’s more than you’ll need for quite a while,” says Gouyet.

This type of performance will also help respond to the new demands placed on ENUM by IMS-enabled applications. “This VoIP IMS space is something we really want to own,” says Gouyet, adding that Nominum’s core products already address the space, but noting that IMS requires a new level of integraton services.

While the demo with IBM is purely a technology-related announcement, Gouyet notes that “we’re at a point in our growth where we’re getting to announce more and more partners.”

He notes the Nominum’s partnership with Juniper Networks, which has made an investment in the IP address infrastructure solution vendor. Nominum recently joined the Juniper Networks J-Partner OSS & Network Management Alliance to deliver joint solutions addressing the growing need for effective IP address management of mission critical networks. The initial solution is the joint development of high-performance network infrastructure with highly available, configurable and scalable DHCP services for broadband Internet applications and mobile connectivity.
The combination of the Juniper Networks E-series edge routing platform with the Nominum Foundation Dynamic Configuration Server (DCS) will meet carrier-grade demands for network availability and performance and enable service providers to efficiently and reliably support large numbers of subscribers with differentiated services.
