RADCOM Unveils Video Analysis, Monitoring Solution for IP, 3G Networks

RADCOM Ltd. is showcasing new video analysis and monitoring capabilities for both packet and cellular networks on the VON show floor.

An important component of the triple-play triumvirate, video is a complex, real-time signal. The number and diversity of network elements involved in provisioning video over a packet network elevates the complexity of achieving and maintaining acceptable quality of service. Video signals at the IP level use a wide variety of audio and video codecs. They require precise timing synchronization between the different components in the video stream. Video service presents connectivity and interoperability challenges between aggregators, servers, network elements and handsets. Because of these complexities, IP and wireless service providers and device manufacturers need a reliable way to test, isolate and resolve video quality problems quickly and cost-effectively, RADCOM contends.

The company has combined signaling and multimedia user plane storage and analysis capabilities with Omni-Q’s distributed probes to give IP and wireless service providers full visibility of video sessions captured by all strategic interfaces throughout their networks.

User-defined thresholds, applied to both circuit-switched and packet interfaces, provide network coverage for automatic detection of video quality degradation. The total solution provides video frame-level statistics, correlates video playback of session participants, and enables subjective analysis of video transmission quality. Problem isolation at various levels, such as the transport layer, video stream syntax, and service signaling, is provided for easier network wide analysis.

Additionally, by using RADCOM’s Iu Consultant, wireless operators can conduct offline/online video session analysis and quality of service monitoring over the Iu interface, the company says. Subjective mobile video analysis is enabled by means of a synchronized audio-video playback, using H.263 and MPEG4 codecs, of all video participants in a given call in the same view.

RADCOM’s video test solution suite also includes high-stress video and voice service emulators as well as video service monitors. These solutions allow vendors to perform a complete test suite in a converged H.323 or SIP environment. Using RADCOM’s, device manufacturers can generate and monitor high stress multi-user scenarios in the lab that will predict the performance and stability of the entire service path before it is deployed in a production network.
