Pannaway Technologies Inc. said today it will deliver VoIP, high-speed Internet and digital TV services over its Service Convergence Network to REI Communications, a facilities-based CLEC in central Florida.
The deal means REI Communications becomes the first local provider to deliver triple play services, the company says. It plans to offer services to 200,000 residents by the end of 2005.
“We chose Pannaway because we were looking for a broadband partner, and not just a product vendor,” says Carl Burgess, CEO of REI Communications. “With the local cable and telecom providers lagging behind in their ability to offer desirable broadband services, we need to step in quickly to fill that gap.”
Pannaway's Service Convergence Network is an IP access platform; one of its features includes primary line VoIP for emergency calling, which works by providing automatic failover to a remotely powered back-up POTS phone line that runs transparently to the subscriber.
