Tollgrade Communications Inc. (Booth 431), which helps telco and cable providers deliver voice, video and data services, at the TELECOM ’05 show is introducing its DigiTest HUB Next Generation Central Office Test Platform for emerging broadband and legacy network testing.
The platform is designed to support multiple testing and network assurance scenarios. It addresses both emerging broadband and legacy testing requirements by retaining the interfaces to legacy equipment while providing testability to subscribers served on next generation network elements, Tollgrade says.
The DigiTest HUB is a modular, 12-slot chassis for medium-to-large central office applications where a variety of services emanate. Plug-in modules can be added, as required, to support POTS, DSL Layer 1-7 and specials testing.
Test plug-in resources can be shared to multiple network elements by the use of a module that multiplexes the test access path. This includes sharing a test resource to remote access elements as fiber is driven further out into the network in topologies such as FTTx.
Tollgrade systems have access to 75 percent of the subscriber loops in North America. The company’s service assurance solutions leverage this base and the processes already working to deliver testability. When coupled with Tollgrade’s LoopCare Test Operations Support System, the DigiTest HUB serves the testing needs of both legacy and evolving “packet” networks to facilitate a low-cost, asset-preserving transition, the company says.
