Broadstream Communications Inc. has selected Latens Systems’ IP CAS IPTV content protection system to secure its digital video broadcast services for its telco content distribution customers, the companies said at TelcoTV.
Integrated with Broadstream’s Bstream middleware platform, Latens’ IP CAS enables service providers to prevent digital piracy.
“By outsourcing content and distribution management to Broadstream, an operator can be up and running incredibly quickly. In the past, legacy conditional access has often been a barrier to both flexibility and speed,” says Jeremy Thorp, CEO of Latens. “However, having designed security architecture from the ground-up specifically for IPTV, we enable Broadstream and its customers to reap the benefit of a security system that reduces costs while allowing an IPTV operator to change business models almost instantaneously.”
Broadstream initially will offer its secured IPTV service to the nearly 1,300 IOCs delivering triple-play services in North America.
