Meriton Networks Inc., provider of transparent optical networking for metro optical networks, said yesterday it has completed the acquisition of Mahi Networks, which it announced in early October.
The buyout combines Meriton’s high-speed optical networking systems with Mahi’s ROADM solutions, giving service providers a unified optical networking product, the companies say.
As consumer broadband and business Ethernet and SAN services continue growing, metro networks are experiencing unprecedented demand. This means network operators must rethink their architectures, Meriton and Mahi say, which their combined products address.
“We are well on track with the integration of the companies,” says Bill Gartner, COO of Meriton Networks. “With the massive growth in consumer broadband as well as business Ethernet services, the timing for delivering a unified portfolio of high-speed networking products could not be better.”
The acquisition’s financial terms were not disclosed. The combined company is using the Meriton Networks name, and is led by Michael Pascoe, Meriton’s president and CEO; and Gartner, Mahi’s former president and COO.
