The TeleManagement Forum (TM Forum) announced today it continues to drive the development of the NGOSS and OpenOSS framework standards as well as develop the ground-breaking benchmarking program for service providers worldwide.

NGOSS 6.0 features updates to key components as well as the addition of procurement guidelines in the Telecom Applicaton Map. TM Forum also is advancing a way for service providers and suppliers to provide feedback and suggest changes to key NGOSS elements through a newly enacted Change Control Board.

TM Forum’s Lean Operator Business Excellence program also is moving forward. Based on 53 business-critical metrics, the benchmarking project will supply telecom providers with comparative industry data they can use to help guide their back-office business decisions and goals in areas such as finance, operational efficiency and customer service. According to the forum, telecom service providers are signing up and initial data from this initiative is expected as early as December.

Finally, the TM Forum has launched an OpenOSS initiative to encourage open collaboration aimed at speeding NGOSS deployment in the industry among service providers, obtaining feedback on standards and encouraging the open development of software tools.
