Vonage Holdings Corp. at CES made a group of announcements about partnerships and new equipment offerings.
First, Vonage has teamed with Panasonic Consumer Electronics Company to develop a broadband cordless phone system, configured with Vonage's service. The system, manufactured by Panasonic, will permit direct telephone hook-up to a user’s broadband connection, eliminating the need for a stand-alone adapter.
Next, Vonage also has partnered with phone maker Uniden America Corp. The companies have paired Uniden’s UIP1869V, a 5.8GHz digital expandable cordless broadband phone system with Vonage's flat-rate phone service. The phone is now available in CompUSA and Fry's Electronics. The UIP1869V contains routing features so it does not require a separate router for establishing a broadband connection with a PC.
Finally, Vonage has made an agreement with networking equipment provider D-Link to develop a co-branded broadband telephone adaptor configured with Vonage's phone service. The Vonage-enabled D-Link VTA is a stand-alone adapter that supports two broadband telephone lines.
