Knology Inc., a broadband services provider, has launched its first converged service, TV Caller ID. The platform uses Integra5 Communications’ i5 Service Delivery Platform.

Knology provides digital cable TV, local and long-distance digital telephone service, and high-speed Internet access, to subscribers in Alabama, Georgia, Florida, South Carolina and Tennessee.

The company is offering TV Caller ID free of charge for one month to customers who also subscribe to its telephone service. After that month, TV Caller ID will cost subscribers $1.95 per month. The service displays the name and telephone number of the person calling on a subscriber’s TV before the phone even rings. Subscribers can access various menu options for the services via their TV remote control, including a call log feature to view a list of incoming calls organized by phone number, which details the caller’s name, number and time and date of call.

Knology executives said they soon will add more advanced applications, including picture caller ID, PC caller ID, voice mail message waiting and personalized IP content alerts. The Integra i5 platform helps providers deploy multimedia services.
