Yahoo! has launched a public beta of Phone Out, the capability to make calls to the PSTN using Yahoo! Messenger.

The new outbound service provides for calls within the United Stats and to more than 30 countries two cents a minute or less.

The new service also includes Phone In, which provides DIDs for inbound calling for $2.99 a month or $29.90 a year. Phone In also includes voice mail and a choice of area codes to provide a virtual presence in any location.

Yahoo! had launched the new calling features to international users in December 2005. The new beta of Yahoo! Messenger with voice is available in eight localized versions including France, Germany, Hong Kong, Italy, Singapore, Spain, United States, Yahoo! en Espanol, and the company plans to add a number of other localized versions.

The enhanced Yahoo! Messenger with voice features also will be introduced into Yahoo!'s co-branded Internet access services, including AT&T Yahoo! High Speed Internet, in the coming months.
