Cablevision Posts Stronger-Than-Expected Numbers

Cablevision Systems Corp. this week posted its highest basic cable subscriber gain in six years, as well as an increase in the number of people using its digital phone and Internet services.

The operator released its first quarter 2006 results, which came in above most analysts’ expectations, according to media reports.

Cablevision’s quarterly net loss fell to $58.9 million, or 21 cents a share, from $118.9 million, or 41 cents a share. The company’s revenue increased 16.2 percent to $1.41 billion.
