Acme Packet Inc. has just gotten clearance to discuss three of its customers, which it’s been working with for some time, said Seamus Hourihan, vice president of marketing and product management at the session border controller vendor.
Broadwing, which has been using Acme Packet’s gear since late in 2005, is supporting its VoIP interconnect as well as IP PBX and hosted service offerings with the vendor’s session border controllers, Hourihan said.
XO Communications, another long-time Acme Packet customer, is using the vendor’s gear for its SIP peering service, he said.
And European cable company Cablecom is launching new business services that employ Acme Packet gear.
“That’s our first publicly announced cable customer,” said Hourihan.
In separate but related news, Acme Packet has partnered with Prometrics to launch a technical certification program for its equipment. The program is targeted at customers, partners and Acme Packet employees who want to learn how to configure, support and understanding scaling implications related to the vendor’s session border controllers.
Acme Packet also announced on Friday it is going public. Goldman, Sachs & Co. will act as sole book-runner, Credit Suisse Securities (USA) LLC will act as joint lead manager and J.P. Morgan Securities Inc. will act as co-manager in the offering.
