SIP support, emergency standalone capabilities and DS3 enhancements were at the top of the agenda for Allied Telesis at GLOBALCOMM on Monday.
The company, formerly known as Allied Telesyn, has added SIP support for its integrated multiservice access platform (iMAP) voice services. The enhancement of SIP will aid service providers as they migrate to more IP-based implementations, especially VoIP, from the more traditional TDM-based voice services, the company said.
The iMAP, an access, aggregation and transport platform that travels over Ethernet/IP, also was bolstered with an emergency standalone service and DS3 support. The emergency standalone service provides backup to power local phone calls, enabling crucial access for 911 calls when the provider's existing network has been disrupted.
The DS3 feature added to iMAP will create "the first pure Ethernet/IP access and DS3 transport platform," according to Allied Telesis.
