Ixia introduced converged application and network testing for triple-play services on Monday.
The Aptixia IxLoad and Aptixia IxNetwork application run on the Optixia hardware platform. They let test engineers direct application and packet-based network traffic over Internet-scale emulated IP/MPLS network topologies to determine quality of experience for subscribers' triple-play services.
"We are announcing a unique capability in the industry, and it opens the door to a whole new way of testing for our customers," said Errol Ginsberg, Ixia CEO. "Traditional testing methods do not hold up with today's service-oriented network gear performing functions requiring deep packet inspection. The integrated capability of our new IxLoad and IxNetwork applications provides the means to truly determine the performance of real applications running on real networks."
Example test cases of Ixia's converged multiservices solution that enables the true assessment of triple-play service delivery include:
--Testing application response in the presence of network instabilities (flapping, failover)
--Measuring the impact of network congestion on application performance
--Optimizing QoS policy settings
--Validating the ability to deliver SLAs for different application types
The Ixia converged multiservices solution will be available early in the third quarter, with the IxNetwork 5.10 and IxLoad 3.10 releases.
