JDSU at GLOBALCOMM will demonstrate its new test process that ensures metro Ethernet QoS across core and access networks.
The solution integrates interoperable field test instruments, network probes and management software, according to JDSU, and addresses three main concerns associated with installing and maintaining metro Ethernet networks: the ability to rapidly install new connections; the need to dispatch technicians to fix, rather than find, problems; and the need for a reliable method to maintain networks while reducing truck rolls.
“In addition to deployment complexities, managing metro Ethernet networks becomes a complicated task because next-generation IP services such as IPTV and VoIP expose QoS guarantees to greater scrutiny,” said Helmut Berg, senior vice president of JDSU’s test and measurement group. “Our metro Ethernet solution enables communications service providers to install the service correctly the first time, and reduce mean time to repair and reduce dispatches. The right test equipment can be the difference between meeting and missing these key deployment metrics.”
