Extreme Networks Inc. on Tuesday announced new Summit X450 switches, fixed-edge switches with power-over-Ethernet (PoE), LLDP/LLDP MED extensions and a modular network operating system to increase availability and security for converged applications. The company also announced the availability of four new modules for the BlackDiamond 8800 modular switch.
Extreme Networks said its technology allows the network switch to deliver security, device management, PoE and intelligent routing features. The Summit X450e and x450a switches, featuring 24-port and 48-port versions with optional dual-port 10-gigabit uplinks, help to future-proof the network with IPV6 routing, voice-class availability and security featuring hardware-based sFlow sampling and policy-based security functions, the company said.
The company’s BlackDiamond 8800 switch, which includes four new modules supporting gigabit aggregation, PoE and policy-based encryption with the Sentriant CE150, can optimize and secure applications, such as secure gigabit-to-the-desktop connectivity, high-speed server aggregation for servers, switches and clustered computing environments.
The Summit X450 and BlackDiamond 8800 switches share hardware and modular software.
