Tekelec, a developer of high-performance network applications for next-generation fixed, mobile and packet networks, today announced two Canadian IOCs, Sogetel and Warwick Telephone (La Compagnie de Téléphone de Warwick), are deploying the Tekelec 9000 Distributed Switching Solution to support their VoIP and data services.
Based in Quebec, Canada, and servicing a combined 30,000 subscribers, each company will use the Tekelec 9000 to provide both native packet and TDM services from a single platform. Additionally, the operators will have the ability to cap and grow existing legacy systems while offering enhanced IP services by deploying the Tekelec 9000 backbone network, which consists of multiple distributed Tekelec 8000 Wireless Multimedia Gateways and Tekelec 3000 Media Gateway Controllers.
Both Sogetel and Warwick Telephone are new Tekelec customers and chose the company after a 12-month review process. Sogetel is the largest IOC in Quebec.
