Telecommunications Industry Association (TIA) President Matt Flanigan on Tuesday released a statement on the final attendance audit for TIA's GLOBALCOMM 2006, which in June occupied more than 200,000 net square feet at the South Hall of Chicago's McCormick Place.

The final attendance audit by independent contractor Exhibit Surveys Inc. showed that 18,585 industry and government visitors participated in TIA's first GLOBALCOMM.

Flanigan reported that numerous U.S.-based companies attended the GLOBALCOMM event, including more than 400 representatives from AT&T Inc. and Verizon Communications Inc. He further stated that delegates were received from more than 100 countries. More than 20 percent of the exhibiting companies and half of the keynote speakers were from outside the United States, he added. The event included 15 conferences designed for service providers, enterprises and vendors, and featured more than 500 exhibitors, nearly 400 speakers and more than 400 press and analysts, according to Flanigan.

In conclusion, Flanigan said that more than 200 companies have reserved nearly three-quarters of the 2006 exhibition net space, for the 2007 show in Chicago, June 18-21.
