Verizon Wireless on Wednesday at CTIA announced a flurry of new applications for subscribers.

A partnership with Vivendi Games Mobile will bring Black Hawk Down, Empire Earth, Flying Toaster, Red Baron, SWAT Force and other games to the carrier's Get It Now virtual store for download to the handset. It also has teamed with CBS Sportsline to launch Fantasy Football Companion, to let subscribers access their CBS Sportsline Fantasy Football Leagues from a handset to view lineups, live scoring, add or drop players, crunch stats and then call the league's competition to brag.

Meanwhile, Verizon has inked a deal with Sonic Branding Solutions to offer its ToneMaker DJ ringtone creator and Wallpaper Maker applications, and announced that a new, free mobile search app – Get It Now Search – will allow users to search downloads in Games, Tones and Pix by artist, title, game or application name. Users can speak a search term rather than type, if they choose.
