Actelis Networks on Monday announced that Broadview Networks will deploy metro Ethernet service using carrier Ethernet solutions from Actelis Networks. The company also announced the commercial availability of its Ethernet switching software, 5.0-Advanced. The release enhances the service delivery, operational support and copper diagnostic capabilities of Actelis' carrier Ethernet-over-copper platforms and will be included on all new product shipments. 5.0-Advanced is also available as an upgrade to existing hardware.

Using existing copper infrastructure, Broadview will provide multimegabit voice and data services throughout its entire footprint, in addition to its subscriber base of more than 600,000 access lines.

The 5.0-Advanced Ethernet switching software includes Ethernet service delivery features based on QoS and bandwidth control features. It also offers a suite of EFM OAM capabilities, and supports hardware such as the XR239 EFM repeater and metallic loop test interfaces in the central office chassis that enable Actelis' equipment to integrate with existing copper infrastructure. 5.0-Advanced supports inter-office VPN connectivity, and both VoIP and traditional TDM-based telephony services. It also allows for the creation of bandwidth profiles at the CPE, and enforcement of them on the 2Base-TL EFM uplink.
