Aperto Networks today unveiled its strategy to support a wide range of deployment options for network operators looking to capitalize on the IEEE 802.16-2004 fixed and IEEE 802.16e-2005 mobile WiMAX standards.
Aperto's mobile WiMAX offering is based on an extension of its PacketMAX architecture, including the PM5000. Aperto has adapted PacketMAX to accommodate the mobile WiMAX standard through 802.16e-2005 compliant radio controller modules and software selectable subscriber units allowing collocation of the equipment based on the fixed and mobile WiMAX standards, or migration from fixed to mobile WiMAX.
“Aperto Networks' mobile WiMAX strategy has been developed and honed from the years of experience that Aperto has gained in successfully deploying high-quality, carrier-class solutions in a host of service provider networks around the globe,” said Mike Pratt, president and CEO of Aperto Networks. “The end result is a robust mobile WiMAX solution that leverages much of the existing investment in the fixed WiMAX infrastructure that is being deployed today.”
