XO Communications said Monday it has expanded the capacity and processing power of its Concentric Clustered Web Hosting services platform.
The company deployed new servers from Sun Microsystems Inc. that lower data center power consumption while providing an increase in processing resources to support Web hosting plans, XO said.
XO is using the Sun Fire T2000 servers featuring the UltraSparc T1 processor. The UltraSparc T1 has eight cores, each with four independent threads, providing 32 processing elements per processor.
XO’s clustered Web hosting platform provides processing resources with sites clustered across many servers so customers can use one application without impacting others. The platform is intended for high traffic and database-driven content sites with applications such as e-commerce, blogs and groupware.
