XConnect, a provider of VoIP peering services, said it has begun production of its DirectRoute service, enabling wholesale carriers to profit from Layer 5 VoIP Peering.
DirectRoute lets carriers terminate calls destined for XConnect ENUM Registry numbers directly to the terminating service providers’ networks, which eliminates transit operators and associated PSTN/VoIP gateways. VoIP service providers receiving calls via DirectRoute can get calls from wholesale carriers directly into their VoIP infrastructures.
VoIP service providers belonging to XConnect’s Global Alliance can join DirectRoute no additional technical or integration requirements, the company said. Some customers that have signed up for the service include Interoute Communications, Bezeq International and Touchstone Systems Inc.
