BT said Tuesday it is acquiring India-based i2i Enterprise Pvt Ltd., an IP communications services business, for an undisclosed amount.
BT Telecom India Pvt Ltd. is the acquiring entity. i2i is the distributor of BT Infonet’s managed network services and products in India.
“BT will become the biggest foreign global carrier operating in India today as the result of this deal,” said Andy Green, CEO, BT Global Services. “The acquisition of i2i is exciting because it places BT at the heart of the world’s fastest growing IT and business process outsourcing market. … India is a cornerstone in our global expansion plans and this investment underlines our commitment to growth from India."
i2i Enterprises has about 200 employees in India and as of March 31, 2006, had gross assets of approximately $22.5 million.
