CBS Corp. has launched three Web sites – CBS Mobile Store, CBS SportsLine and CBS News.
CBS Mobile Store, www.CBSMobile.com, offers exclusive mobile content, including games, voice tones from CBS programming and “live wallpapers” featuring scenes from CBS reality shows that can be downloaded as still images within hours of broadcast. Also available are daily mobile video alerts from “The David Letterman Show,” called “Dave TV,” which are clips from the previous night's show available within hours of broadcast.
The CBS SportsLine, wap.CBSSportsLine.com, a wireless application protocol (WAP) site, provides real-time scores and enables users to control fantasy sports teams from the mobile phone. CBS News, wap.CBSNews.com, delivers full stories and images of near-real-time breaking news events to mobile devices.
The content of the CBS Mobile Store and WAP sites was designed for mobile use, but CBS Mobile executives said it also will link to CBS television shows.
CBS Mobile Store content is available for a one-time download charge or at a subscription rate. CBS SportsLine and CBS News are advertising-supported sites with free mobile content.
Most major wireless carriers offer access to the mobile Web sites and most services are compatible with CBS content, according to CBS Mobile.
VeriSign Inc. manages the technology and operation of CBS Mobile Store, while Volantis Systems Ltd. aided in the WAP sites’ construction.
