North American wireline operators increased capital spending by 8 percent compared to the fourth quarter of 2005 despite continued declines in revenue, according to analysis by Ovum-RHK of 5 percent to 6 percent versus 2005.
Wireline revenue was $43.2 percent in the fourth quarter, while companies spent $7.9 billion.
Mobile capital spending fell 8 percent ($6.5 billion) in the fourth quarter year over year. Mobile revenue was up 13 percent, though, to $35.3 billion, according to the report.
