Living up to its reputation for dynamic leadership changes, Telcordia Technologies Inc. said Monday that COO Mark Greenquist will take over as president and CEO on May 2, succeeding Daniel Carroll.
Carroll, who will retain his position on the Telcordia board of directors, was responsible for growing and streamlining Telcordia after it was spun off from SAIC as an independent company in 2005. SAIC bought the OSS giant in 1997.
The company appears to have few qualms about making changes at the top when things are going well.
Carroll succeeded Matthew Desch, who was brought on in 2002 to oversee a big restructuring that included the launch of the Elementive strategy, expansion into wireless and the acquisition of inventory specialist Granite Systems – all key moments in Telcordia’s development from its beginnings as Bellcore, the R&D arm of the RBOCs.
The company’s board issued a statement recognizing Carroll’s contributions to the company, but noted that with the transition from SAIC complete, Greenquist has become instrumental in implementing the company’s strategic business plan, which emphasizes delivering business-critical solutions to the communications market and network evolution.
Greenquist has more than 20 years of global business expertise. He was named COO of Telcordia after serving as CFO since 2005. Previously, he served as CFO at Symbol Technologies, a global leader in enterprise mobility solutions, Agere Systems, a global leader in semiconductors and software solutions for storage, mobility and networking markets and General Motors in several international leadership positions throughout Europe and the United States.
Greenquist holds a Bachelors degree in Economics from Dartmouth College in New Hampshire and an MBA from the Columbia Business School in New York.
