Emerson Network Power at NXTcomm (Booth 2875) is debuting two new DC power solutions.
The company’s new NetSure 201 Series is a family mini DC power systems with full-front access and an AC/DC plug-in design for ease of use and maintenance. These systems allow for heat and temperature changes in a cabinet deployment.
Also new at the show is the Lorain XP Access 48100 DC power system, designed to replace or update the power technology in SLC-96 and SLC Series 5 applications.
With thousands of SLC-96 and SLC Series 5 units deployed across the United States over the last 25 years, maintenance issues and component obsolescence are now coming to the fore. In recent years, the need to add DSL equipment into existing cabinets has become necessary as DSL has proved to be an avenue of revenue growth for telecom providers.
This is where the Lorain XP Access 48100 comes in. It has been designed to enable providers a quick and easy power replacement process to minimize service interruption. Its relatively small footprint provides additional space in cabinets or CEVs for providers to install more revenue generating equipment and/or additional batteries to upgrade the backup reserve time.
“Emerson Network Power’s Lorain XP Access 48100 is unique in the sense that this solution is compatible and interoperable with both the existing SLC-96 and SLC Series 5,” said Ed Feeney, Emerson senior vice president. "We needed to come up with a solution that would not only cost-effectively address the maintenance and repair issues of telecom providers without hindering their operational uptime, but also fully utilize the space in their cabinets or CEVs letting them capitalize on the DSL market.”
