IneoQuest Technologies Inc. said that its IQPinPoint solution supports end-to-end testing, monitoring, troubleshooting and reporting of switched digital video (SDV) networks.
SDV enables increased efficiency of network bandwidth for service providers.
According to IneoQuest, with the traditional video delivery model, all channel streams are delivered to the end-user’s set-top box, including unwatched channels, which results in wasted bandwidth. In a network-leveraging SDV, only requested content is sent to a viewer’s home. As a result, the increased radio frequency bandwidth efficiency enables network operators to provide more services, and delivers increased channel capacity and improved viewer experiences, the company said.
The IQPinPoint, comprised of the Singulus Lite Cricket family of network probes and the IP Video Management System (iVMS), provides end-to-end quality and service assurance to ensure requested channels are delivered to the appropriate end users in real time while also guaranteeing operations such as changing channels, recording programs and using VoD function seamlessly.
“With the top 10 MSOs already initiating some early-stage testing and deployment of SDV technology, we felt it was important to offer them a vendor-agnostic, open solution that provides an innovative suite of SDV-centric reporting and trending information these companies need, right now, to deploy and manage their SDV networks,” said Gino Dion, vice president of business development for IneoQuest.
