XO Communications will provide network services in support of the expansion of GameRail’s high-capacity gaming network, the companies said Monday.
With the additional new capacity provided by XO’s optical network and services, GameRail said it will be able to further expand the availability and performance of its private nationwide network for online gamers.
GameRail will purchase gigabit Ethernet intercity private line circuits and IP transit services from XO to support the first phase of the GameRail network and for possible future domestic network expansions.
GameRail recently introduced a network designed to meet the needs for speed and quality in online gaming. Its bypass network delivers a “direct-connect” from the game player to the game host and avoids the congestion and inefficient routing paths of the regular Internet, the company said.
Once GameRail and the subscriber’s Internet access are interconnected, the subscriber’s game play packets bypass the multihop, high-latency Internet and “hot route” across XO’s nationwide fiber-optic network connected to the game host.
