AT&T Inc. will buy its remaining stake in regional wireless company Edge Wireless Holding Co.
The nation’s largest telecommunications company made the announcement on Monday, the same day it said it will exit the pay phone business.
AT&T has been a minority owner in Edge since Edge was founded in 2000; now it will buy the remaining 64.3 percent for an undisclosed sum.
Edge Wireless, which operates on the GSM network, has approximately 172,000 subscribers in Idaho, Northern California, Oregon and Wyoming.
The deal should close by mid-2008, AT&T said.
