ADVA Optical Networking this week at NXTcomm launched the FSP 150CC-584 demarcation device, which enables Ethernet over T1/E1s. The box accepts eight T1s, can do up to 1meg Ethernet out and is hardened, so can be used outside for wireless backhaul applications.

This solution was designed to address the needs of wireless network operators, who in some cases have Ethernet-based radios their networks but are typically still relying on T1 backhaul, explained Ron Martin, chief marketing and strategy officer. It also let’s the carrier providing the wireless backhaul to separate the traffic from each of its wireless service provider customers and ensure each gets the appropriate QoS on its connection, he added.
