So you think only ISPs know when they’re messing with your Web packets? Think again. Now you can detect tampering, as the Electronic Frontier Foundation has launched what it calls a free throttling detector for ISP users ─ dubbed the Switzerland Network Testing Tool.
Word of its launch comes just days after the FCC punished cableco Comcast Corp. (CMCSA) for throttling P2P traffic, which some ISPs see as ongoing bandwidth management. Users see it as tampering with unlimited and supposedly neutral web access they’re paying for.
