Expect sales revenue for telecommunication gateways and session border controllers to increase steadily over the next five years. That’s according to a new report from INSIGHT Research.
While the new report says sales will increase by a compounded rate of 13 percent over the next five years, the news is even better for hybrid-fiber coax gateways and SIP gateways. They’re expected to see growth rates of more than 30 percent during the same time period.
"Gateways form the link between today's revenue-generating services and what the carriers will be building to generate their future revenue streams,” says Insight President Robert Rosenberg, “so we expect the telecommunications gateway market to continue growing for at least the next five years.”
The study predicts nearly $2 billion worth of gateway technology will be sold around the world by the end of 2008. By 2013, sales will increase to $3.5 billion annually.
This specialized equipment allows traditional phone networks to interconnect with next generation network services that make extensive use of the Internet.
