Will Microsoft Corp. come a-callin’ again now that Yahoo! Inc. (YHOO) has posted dreadful third-quarter earnings?
Yahoo! CEO Jerry Yang had insisted earlier this year he could turn around his struggling search engine without the help of Microsoft (MSFT), thank you very much. Well, now the AP’s calling that rebuff “a horrible mistake” and Yahoo!’s net income drop to $54.3 million from $151.3 million a year ago attests to that.
As Fortune quoted a source as saying: “There's a fair amount of people at their wit's end when it comes to this company." So. Has Microsoft, too, washed its hands of Yahoo!, or is now the perfect time for the software giant to score a bargain?
