In clear evidence that “copy” is still a bad four-letter word to big content owners, Hollywood movies houses have joined to sue RealNetworks Inc.(RNWK) over a new software tool that enables consumers to copy DVDs to their PCs.

The news is but the latest development in a seemingly never-ending battle between content owners looking to protect and monetize their video assets, and companies looking for ways to make that same programming more available to a far wider audience.
