A jury says Cox Communications did not infringe on six Verizon Internet telephony patents. The verdict was returned in a Virginia court this afternoon.
Verizon says it will continue to defend what it calls “innovative” patents. A Cox spokesman said the company would prefer to fight Verizon in the marketplace rather than a courtroom.
Verizon was seeking more than $400 million in damages, but a verdict of any size could have given the telco giant leverage with other cablecos.
