Not Drinking the Mobile Kool-Aid: Most People Don’t Game, E-mail or Use Video

We might be at saturation levels for handsets, and smartphones might be increasingly attractive to consumers, and networks might be getting faster, but none of that is translating into high-end application use. That must be a little disappointing for ARPU-hungry operators.

An Accenture Research survey found that 80 percent of U.S. consumers don’t use phones or any other mobile device for gaming, e-mail or video. So despite all the conversation within our industry about such whiz-bang fun stuff, lay people aren’t drinking the Kool-Aid yet.
