Online Ad Revenue Declines

As the economy spirals downward, online advertising is also taking a hit.

Ad revenue in the U.S. was down in the second quarter compared to the previous three-month period. And with the gloomy financial developments in the past few weeks, the third and fourth quarter numbers may be nothing to brag about when those come out either. Before 2008, the market saw several quarters of increases in a row.

The latest report from Interactive Advertising Bureau and PricewaterhouseCoopers shows online ad revenue was $5.7 billion in the second quarter, down from $5.8 billion in the first.
