SDN Communications of South Dakota expanded its network to give carriers new, competitive routes to reach more cities in the upper Midwest.
The Sioux Falls, S.D.-based provider added direct connections to Minneapolis; Omaha, Neb.; Casper, Wyo., and Fargo, N.D.
SDN partnered with North Dakota’s Dakota Carrier Network (DCN) to connect to Fargo and is working with Wyoming’s Advanced Communications Technology (ACT) for a first-quarter 2009 connection to Casper.
SDN said its expansion is especially significant for the western portion of the region because no other company has provided connectivity between South Dakota and Wyoming. SDN offers DS3 to OC48 or Ethernet on all its routes.
“These are all fast-growing, business-friendly cities that needed direct connections,” said SDN CEO Mark Shlanta. “We’re excited to offer affordable fiber routes to those communities to foster the growth.”
The expansion is the first phase of SDN having a larger regional presence, the company said. Future expansions include routes to Denver; Cheyenne, Wyo.; and Dickinson, N.D.
