A new site called Bringit.com is taking gaming and the move to increase ARPU to a whole new level.
The site lets online gamers play for pay, generating for the site a 10 percent service fee on every wager and a $4 fee whenever players collect their awards. Winnings range from $5 to $500 and entry fees do apply.
Now in beta, the online community appeals to owners of Nintendo Wii, PlayStation 3, PlayStation 2, or Xbox 360 devices. Entrants can play Call of Duty 4, Gears of War 2, FIFA Soccer 08, Madden 08, Guitar Hero World Tour, and NBA 2K9 either in one-on-one, multiplayer or tournament matches.
Why don’t the telcos and cablecos do something along these lines? After all, at least a handful of these service providers have been offering free game systems with their service promotions.
