Patent disputes apparently aren’t getting in the way of Limelight Networks Inc.’s (LLNW) growth.

The content delivery network (CDN) company outperformed analysts’ expectations for the third quarter (despite losing $15.4 million compared to $3.1 million a year earlier) and now it’s signed a deal with FastSoft Inc. to improve storage services.

FastSoft will install its E Series Internet Accelerators for Limelight Networks; the devices speed content upload to Limelight’s storage servers. FastSoft’s FastTCP technology bypasses limitations in the TCP protocol so transmission goes faster than usual.

The deal’s financial terms weren’t disclosed.

Level 3 Communications Inc. is suing Limelight Networks for patent infringement; Limelight Networks also must pay rival Akamai more than $45 million for patent infringement.

Limelight Networks, a relative newcomer to the CDN space, has been involved in patent litigation with competitor Two-Way Media LLC as well.
