It’s no secret that the incoming Obama administration and other new leadership are expected to create a new move toward increased regulation. And, as noted in today’s Wall Street Journal, the telecommunications industry is likely to be impacted by that new regulatory climate.
The piece says that under the new guard we can expect a push for new limits on media consolidation and new requirements for telephone and cable companies to open their networks to competitors.
As discussed in a recent xchange posting, Sen. Jay Rockfeller (D-W.V.) will be among the prominent politicians heading up these efforts. Also driving the change: Rep. Henry Waxman (D-Calif.).
