xchange guest blogger Teresa Mastrangelo, principal analyst for Broadbandtrends.com, said in her November newsletter that cable is “kicking butt” over DSL.

Cable bundles are better, she said, operators’ footprints are larger and all of that’s led to the lowest level of DSL port shipments in two years. That puts cable at the helm with 52 percent of subscribers, versus 46 percent for telcos, she found.

It’s funny when listening to different analysts because, as with anything else, conflicting information abounds. For example, CFI Group recently reported that consumers favor telcos when it comes to voice and data bundles.

Ay yai yai. Will there ever be consensus on what’s happening in the market?
