Content security giant Verimatrix Inc. today announced that early video deployer Pioneer Telephone Cooperative has rolled out its Video Content Authority System (VCAS for IPTV) package to cover its video-on-demand (VoD) and live broadcast services on its Pioneer Digital TV service.

Pioneer, which launched its IPTV service in 2004, serves 72 towns in the greater part of Oklahoma and is the fourth largest telephone cooperative in the United States.

“Verimatrix has proved its ability to integrate with our existing IPTV platform components and provide stellar customer service,” said Scott Ulsaker, manager of Pioneer Long Distance at Pioneer, in prepared comments. “The overall performance of VCAS has been extremely stable, allowing us to focus our efforts on growing the service rather than simply maintaining it.”

Verimatrix is demonstrating VCAS for IPTV at the Telco TV show this week.

Software-based VCAS for IPTV is a downloadable security system for IPTV clients that enables operators to use less expensive set-top box or client device hardware. The vendor’s product can be updated as required to combat piracy attacks

Pioneer provides an array of communications products and services, including local telephone service, digital TV, cellular, long distance, high-speed Internet, security systems, business solutions and Yellow Pages advertising.
