CloudShield Technologies Inc. today announced that Dynamic Network Services Inc. has deployed its CS-2000 network application platform, which is powered by deep packet inspection technology (DPI).

DPI has been at the center of privacy and net neutrality debates as it enables operators to look into each packet to determine consumer Web behavior. It’s been touted as a means to offer advertising based on that data.

The Cloudshield customer did not say if it would use DPI to create pay-extra Internet tiers or behavioral advertising opportunities.

“We have deployed the CloudShield CS-2000 system and are utilizing its Deep Packet Inspection (DPI) technology to inspect, analyze, control and defend our network,” said Tom Daly, president and CTO, Dynamic Network Services, in prepared comments. “The flexibility of CloudShield’s solution allows us to cost effectively implement these capabilities on a single network application platform. We are now able to offer a more robust service to our network customers.”

The CS-2000 content processing platform can handle a wide range of applications and multiple functions simultaneously, according to Cloudshield, which adds that the system can be used in the aggregation network, in the core or at interconnect points.
