Lobbyists Line Up for Broadband Dollars

Cable and telco lobbyists are chomping at the bit at the idea that President-elect Barack Obama wants to improve the country’s broadband infrastructure.

Congress wants a plan that focuses on job creation and speedy Internet access because studies show the U.S. is just 15th in the world in broadband penetration.

Policies being considered include corporate tax credits for infrastructure building, and federal bonds for companies and local governments.
