FCC Chairman Kevin Martin is out to protect your family from more than a wardrobe malfunction – he wants your free wireless Internet to be skin-free as well.
What free wireless Internet, you say? Oh, that would come as part of the AWS-3 auction. Martin wants a company such as M2Z Networks to operate the network, which supposedly would be funded by advertising.
Two things. First, we wonder how realistic a free model would be. When you consider that even Google Inc. is showing declining ad revenue, the obvious question is, how will a start-up succeed against the odds? Second, we’re curious to see how the censorship of public airwaves goes over with the masses.
